🏢 OUR STORY – MORE THAN 65 YEARS OF FAMILY BUSINESS

For us, Storage City has never just been about storage.

Our story began in 1960, when Oldershaw Removals started in Derbyshire. What began as a removals business was built on simple values that still matter to us today: work hard, treat people properly, look after what matters to them and always try to help.

More than 65 years later, those values remain at the heart of the business.

Over the decades, the business has evolved:

🚚 1960 – Oldershaw RemovalsWhere the journey began, helping families and businesses move safely and reliably.

🌍 1983 – Transpakship Overseas (S-in-A) LimitedThe business expanded into shipping, removals and international transport.

🔐 1994 – ‘Lock-Ups’ Self Storage LimitedWe moved into dedicated self-storage and secure space for domestic and commercial customers.

🏢 1998 – Storage City LimitedThe Storage City name was created, forming the identity many customers know today.

Today, Storage City operates as part of the wider TPS Group, but despite all the growth and change, one thing remains especially important to us:

we are still a close, family-run business.

Generations of the family have grown up around the business, watched it develop and helped shape its future.

We have also been fortunate to build long-standing relationships with customers, suppliers and local businesses. Some customers have been with us for many years, some businesses have grown alongside us, and many familiar faces have become friends.

That personal relationship still matters.

We never want customers to feel like just another account number. We still believe in picking up the phone, knowing who our customers are, helping where we can and finding practical solutions when people need them.

Today, from our Sutton-in-Ashfield site, we provide container storage, domestic and business storage, commercial vehicle parking, goods handling and forklift services, serviced offices, secure site access and bespoke business support services.

What started with one family removals business has grown into a wider operation covering removals, shipping, storage, transport, property and business support.

We are proud of our history, but even more proud that the values behind the business have remained the same.

The names have changed. The services have grown. Generations have passed. But the family values remain.
